Q: How many photos do I need and how good do they have to be?

A: The detail of the completed artwork is related to the quality and clarity of the photo(s). I prefer to work from 2 or more photos that accurately depict the pet's personality and coloring details. Any postures or expressions that you desire in the finished artwork need to be represented in your photos.

Q: How do I send the photos and do I get them back?

A: You can send the photos to me by post or email. Photo submitted by post will be returned in exactly the same condition they were received.

Q: What size artwork is best for my pet?

A:The size of a portrait is a personal choice. I believe that you should be able to enjoy your portrait from across the room. The larger size makes it possible to capture every important detail.

Q: What is the smallest size you recommend and still get a good likeness of my pet?

A: To do justice for a single image I recommend 12" x 16" as the minimum size

Q: Who owns the copyright of the artwork?

A: Copyright of the artwork belongs to the artist.

Q: How long does it take to complete a portrait?

A: The lead time will depend on how many commissions I am working on at the time. It is best to allow 4-6 weeks during the year and allow more time around holidays. If the portrait is required in a hurry, contact me and I will be able to tell you if I can rearrange my workload to accommodate your schedule.

Q: When/how do I pay?

A: Each portrait requires a great deal of time and effort. To ensure sincerity of the order, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required. After the final artwork is approved by the client, the balance of the commission plus the shipping cost is due. Upon receipt and approval of your payment, the artwork is sent. You may pay by personal check or by Visa or MasterCard.

Q: Does my artwork come framed?

A: The artwork does not come framed. I have found that my clients prefer to customize their artwork by working with a framer of their choice. Your artwork will be presented in an acid-free double mat in a neutral color.
